How do I know if an IP is blocked?

For your protection, we have strict security protocols and will block IPs exhibiting the behaviours of bad actors. For example, excessive failed registrations, or excessive calls to international destinations.

Open your command prompt or terminal and type the following:

Terminal window
ping sip.brightpbx.ca

If it’s not blocked, you should see something like this:

Terminal window
ping sip.brightpbx.ca
PING sip.brightpbx.ca (x.x.x.x): 56 data bytes
64 bytes from x.x.x.x: icmp_seq=0 ttl=48 time=13.584 ms
64 bytes from x.x.x.x: icmp_seq=1 ttl=48 time=12.393 ms
64 bytes from x.x.x.x: icmp_seq=2 ttl=48 time=13.078 ms
64 bytes from x.x.x.x: icmp_seq=3 ttl=48 time=12.603 ms

If you see something to the effect of the host being unreachable, follow these steps:

  1. Check your firewall/router to ensure our IPs are allowed.
  2. If they are already whitelisted, contact Support and request your IP to be unblocked. You can use a tool like whatismyip.com to get your public IP.
