Submitting a port request

Note: If you are submitting a port on behalf of a client account, you should be masquerading that account first. Doing so will permit DIDs to be usable by that sub-account while the port is in-progress (e.g. to be set as Caller ID in Smart PBX). Additionally, when organized in hierarchical order via the Porting Manager app, you will be able to easily see all porting activity related to that specific customer account.

1. Open the Porting app, and choose New Port Request.

2. For Port Request Name, enter your customer’s company name. Choose the type (local vs toll free), and click Next.

3. Upload a phone bill stating for the number(s) you’re porting, and check the box underneath.

4. Once you check the box, a set of fields will appear for you to fill out. Fill these out exactly as they appear on the phone bill. Failure to do so will result in the port being rejected.

Once you have filled out ALL information, click Next - Select Numbers at the bottom of the page (not shown in the above screenshot).

5. Enter the phone number(s) to port (one per line), and click Add Numbers

Once you click Add Numbers, they will show as added in the section below

6. Click Next - LoA Form at the bottom of the page

7. Upload the LoA form, provide the signee name and date, then click Next - Notifications & Scheduling.

Note: The LOA form is a requirement. It must exactly match their phone bill. Any mismatches (including typos) will result in a rejection, and further delay the time to complete the port. Double check all info before submitting.

7. Choose a notification email to receive status updates on the port. If you do not set this, you will not receive any email notifications about your port. If you are not the only one in your company overseeing ports, consider setting this to an email distribution list within your company.

8. Finally, confirm the questions surrounding the port and click Submit This Port Request.

Note that the Scheduled Date of Port is not the guaranteed port date. It is simply the date we will request The carrier — including the customer’s current carrier — are ultimately responsible for providing the firm port date. For this reason, you should always wait until you receive a confirmed port request from our system before you communicate the port date to the customer.
