Provisioning Grandstream GXP21xx Series

1. Add the device to Smart PBX

2. Factory reset your Grandstream device. Push the centre button on the directional pad, navigate to System, then choose Factory Reset.

3. Obtain the phone’s IP address. Push the centre button on the directional pad and choose Status > Network Status. You should see a line such as IPv4: 10.10.9.88.

   Reading 0.0.0.0?

   That usually means the device jack is not plugged in. Verify the network cable.

4. Log into the web interface. Enter the IP address in your browser. On first login the default username is admin and the password is admin.

5. Configure auto-provision details. Most of the information is already pre-populated. Go to Maintenance, then Upgrade and Provisioning on the drop-down menu, and set:

   Field	Value
   Config Server Path	our provisioning URL
   Upgrade via	HTTP
   Firmware Server Path	leave empty

   Check for stray characters

   Ensure there are no extra spaces or characters in these fields. The provisioner supplies the firmware server path itself during initial provisioning, so clear anything already in it.

   

6. Click Save and Apply at the bottom of the page

7. Then click Provision at the top of the page

   

8. This may take a few minutes, but if done correctly you will notice the device reboot as it goes through the initial provisioning phase

What initial provisioning does

The initial provisioning phase is a security measure that verifies the device before handing over the full provisioning URL path to the configuration file. Once it finishes, Firmware Server Path is populated and Config Server Path is updated.
